Hinsdale County is not only an incredible place for astronomy but also for the earth sciences. It is like Hinsdale County is one large science lab with its abundance of natural phenomena.
The Lake Fork Valley Conservancy (LFVC) is an organization whose mission is facilitate long term environmental sustainability in the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River Valley through collaborative and sustainable actions that foster land conservation, ecosystem health, and community resiliency.
LFVC is planning to build the Slumgullion Center, an education facility that will take its mission to the next lever of research and public engagement. The Slumgullion Center will serve as LFVC’s future headquarters and its base of operations for its programs.
