Stargazing Session

  • Windy Point Overlook Colorado 149 Lake City, CO, 81235 United States (map)

Join us for a stargazing session for International Dark Sky Week with local amateur astronomer, Phillip Virden. If conditions cooperate, we will enjoy seeing the spring constellations and possibly some “shooting stars” from the Lyrid meteor shower.

We ask that anyone coming to these sessions, dim their car lights when approaching the stargazing site. We recommend you dress warmly and bring something to sit on. If you have, bring your telescope and/or binoculars!

Lake City has extraordinary nighttime skies enabling all residents and visitors the opportunity to view the wonders of the universe. 80% of the North American population cannot witness the Milky Way galaxy. In Lake City, we can see our “home galaxy” on a regular basis. Come see the stars in Lake City, Colorado!

*Inclement weather (rain, total cloud cover) will cause for cancellation of session.

Dress warmly, bring a chair if you can, and don’t forget your enthusiasm and imagination!
