Lake City Skies

We are a community of skywatchers, casual stargazers, and budding astronomers. Lake City Skies is an organization dedicated to providing information and education on the weather, science, and nature of the scenic skies of Lake City, Colorado, located in the beautiful San Juan mountains and designated as an International Dark Sky location.

Whether it is discussing the extraordinary blue sky on an autumn day, the dramatic display of a summer thunderstorm, the prospects for a snowy winter, or the wonder of the starry Milky Way, Lake City Skies was created to facilitate dialogue on such natural phenomena. We invite both locals and visitors to Lake City to give their input and ask their questions about what is going on “up there”.
